SM-SHOP is owned by the association Det Sorte Forlag, which opened in Studiestræde 16 in Copenhagen in 1991 as part of a collective shop called 'Det Sorte Univers'. Det Sorte Forlag consisted of a handful of SMil members and published a transition SM Bladet. In 1992, the faction moved for itself in Studiestræde 12, where we have been ever since. Gradually, the store's assortment increased, and in 1997 there was a major restructuring with i.a. new management. In 1998, the store's activities were expanded with an online store, which is one of the oldest of its kind in Denmark. With our nice selection of quality leather products, we primarily cater to SM people of all shapes and sizes, but also customers who are most interested in the more common sex toys can benefit from a visit with us. Over the years, we have gained a reputation for seriousness, which has meant that our customer base consists of everyone, men and women, probably half of each, from very young to a little older, from the very shy to the straightforward and we see it as our foremost task of making everyone feel welcome.
